ColLAB Cologne IV – gem_einsam

We are looking forward to an evening entitled »gem_einsam« in the fourth concert of the ColLAB Cologne Ensemble. With the aim of presenting themselves as a complete ensemble, students from the three composition classes of the HfMT were invited to create works especially for the special instrumentation of ColLAB Cologne. The ensemble ColLAB Cologne is composed of oboe, trumpet, harp, double bass and double percussion and piano, under the direction of Prof. Susanne Blumenthal.

»We explore the intersections of community and solitude starting from each:s individual composer’s personal point of view – a theme that is not only relevant on stage.« The works leave room for small and large ensembles to present the instruments in different contexts. The program feeds on three large ensemble works, which stand as pillars at the beginning, middle and end. They span the works for smaller, changing instrumentations.

Afterwards, the Ensemble ColLAB Cologne and the composers invite to a reflection on the theme »gem_einsam«.
