Second episode of Mik Quantius’ Improplausch series. This time as a guest in Mik’s kitchen: the American cellist Lori Goldston. The first 24 minutes are a mix of chat and play, followed by an excerpt of a session from the same kitchen from November 2021. Find the full session on Youtube:
Lori Goldston is a cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher from Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic, is full, textured, committed and original. A relentless inquirer, her work drifts freely across borders that separate genre, discipline, time and geography.
Born 1968 in Cologne, vocalist Mik Quantius has been singing with famous and unfamous musicians for 40 years now – mostly in improvisation. He has been touring through Europe, the US and Indonesia. Since 15 years Mik also performs solo with various instruments.
Every month ONpodcast offers a new perspective into the independent scene of Cologne. What it is about and who it is with is entirely up to the host: in two episodes they give us insights into their life and work within the experimental music scene and share conversation, stories and music.
