NOIES 02/22 | Juli & August

And here it is – the new issue of our magazine NOIES, which we are now publishing for the second time in cooperation with KGNM (Kölner Gesellschaft für Neue Musik) and GNMR (Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Ruhr)!

Some things you will recognize, others are new: for the first time there is the possibility to write an open letter under the heading “brief AN”. Here, protagonists of the independent music scene are invited to start conversations that should be held in public. The Initiative Freie Musik (IFM) is starting off with a letter to the new head of the Cologne Department of Culture, Stefan Charles. We are eagerly awaiting his response!

Also new is the section “künste NEBENAN”, in which we look out of the window of experimental and new music into our artistic neighborhoods, and introduce artists who are on the move in other disciplines. In this issue, visual artist Irena Paskali presents her experimental photographic series “Urban Landscape”. The work, by the way, is also featured on the cover.

Also, composer Georgia Koumará gives insight into her relationship with her theremin Clara (it’s complicated). Composer and artist Harald Muenz cleans up his home, leaving us with the graphic and video “Cleaning Mai House.” The two Essen composers Roberto Beseler Maxwell and Levin Zimmermann tell us about their new day festival ya¹, which brings together musical traditions separated by space and time. LTK4 im Lutherturm offers insights into its diverse program. And musician Gîn Bali has a music tip for us.
